Jason West returns to VARLO for a second year after a scorching 2022 season, notching wins at the Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga North American Championship and Ironman 70.3 Augusta, and representing Team USA at the Professional Triathletes Organization (PTO) Collins Cup. Finishing Augusta with a blistering 1:09:08 half marathon split, West lived up to the legendary Dave Scott’s depiction as a “ferocious runner” who “always closes his races with legs filled with venom.”
Long course specialist Cody Beals joins VARLO after a stellar 2022, winning Ironman Lake Placid and Ironman 70.3 Eagleman, and podiuming at Ironman Wisconsin and Ironman Mont Tremblant. Known for his radical transparency and data driven approach to training and racing, VARLO is thrilled to be working with Beals, who will also aid in designing and developing pro-performance products for 2023.
Leveraging her master’s degree in exercise science, Grace Alexander capped her successful 2022 campaign by winning Ironman 70.3 Augusta after compelling performances at Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga and Ironman 70.3 Eagleman. Alexander made history in 2020 at Ironman Gulf Coast 70.3 as the first female athlete to win an overall Ironman branded event competing against both men and women.
Former University of Georgia All-American swimmer and rising star Rachel Zilinskas started 2022 strong with fourth place finishes at Ironman Texas and Ironman Lake Placid, before landing a podium slot at Ironman Mont Tremblant. Look for Zilinskas to continue leading the field out of the water in 2023 as she builds upon her professional career.
“We are honored to have Jason, Cody, Grace, and Rachel at the tip our pro athlete roster for 2023,” said Soj Jibowu, founder and CEO of VARLO. “They are all incredible athletes and, importantly, wonderful humans who embody the inclusive spirit of VARLO to empower all athletes to redefine what is possible.” West, Beals, Alexander, and Zilinskas, will join VARLO’s professional roster comprised of Brittany Higgins, Klodian Mitri, Olivia Ditzel, Aaron Kolk, and Caroline Shannon.
