Meet Olivia Dietzel

Olivia (Liv) was born and raised in Dickeyville, Wisconsin. She discovered her love for endurance sports when her high school gym teacher convinced her to give running a try. Deemed “not worth investing in” by her track coach, she didn’t pursue running at the collegiate level. After college, she took up cycling as a father-daughter bonding opportunity. Liv signed up for her first Ironman in 2019 as a fundraiser for brain cancer research in honor of her father, who was battling glioblastoma (GBM). After finishing that “one-and-done” Ironman she was hooked. Losing her father in 2020, Liv now had a powerful “why” for racing and got serious about training in 2021. She progressed quickly, being on several Ironman age group podiums, qualifying for 70.3 and Ironman World Championships, and being female champion at Ironman 70.3 Michigan. In 2022, she placed 4th in her age group at the 2021 Ironman World Championships and qualified for her pro license. Liv looks forward to her first pro season in 2023, where she will search for her true potential while continuing to raise money and awareness for GBM research. No matter where her triathlon career takes her, she will never forget her “why” and will always race in honor of her father, her biggest fan.
